Hi anyone, I am thinking of purchasing one of these models so I am able to pick up 6IP and radio frequencies for SWAN and in particular Bullsbrook VBFB? If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

With an (preferably outdoor) appropriate antenna the UBC72XLT and 92XLT will both cover the current (78MHz) network and the future VHF/UHF network.

Uniden UBC72XLT
Uniden UBC72XLT, hand held, the batteries only last a few hours, I use a transformer charging unit at home, in the vehicle, I use a HD 6 V battery to trickle charge the 2 AA batteries, does any one else have same problem with hand held batteries lasting so short ?

Rechargeables will never last as long as drycells. Two NiCd and NiMH only charge to 2.4v nominal (~2.6-2.7 fully charged), whereas drycells are at 3v so you already lose out there. The capacity of the batteries is important as well. You can buy high capacity AA Ni cells. They will last longer between charges but will take longer to charge on the same charging system. Also, as they age, they go flat quicker. Jaycar Electronics have a selection of budget, high capacity batteries - Powertech brand. Look at the Amphour rating (Ah). The other option is to use those 'Grandcell' rechargeable Alkalines. They charge to 3.0v but you get a lot less charges out of them (20-30 I think)jasonjag wrote:Uniden UBC72XLT, hand held, the batteries only last a few hours, I use a transformer charging unit at home, in the vehicle, I use a HD 6 V battery to trickle charge the 2 AA batteries, does any one else have same problem with hand held batteries lasting so short ?
