Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has had a go with the new Alinco DJ-X30 reciever or whether the reputation of Alinco is a reliable brand?

I see that the DJ-X30 has many features and covers a very wide range of frequencies. Im just tired of seeing Uniden too often.

I am also looking at the Yaesu VR-120 in comparison. So far, been getting a few mix reactions to this model, good and bad.

Any recommendations/suggestions welcome.
Cheers!

Have a look reviews on the excellent 'eham' website at http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/25
I don't see anything about the DJ-X30 yet but you should be able to get an idea of how well regarded (or otherwise) the brand is.

I have a DJ-V5 amateur 2m/70cm hand held transceiver that also doubles as a very good scanner.

The receiver on the unit is fantastic, but the transmit side is not so good. It doesn't put out as much power as it says on the box... however it may just need to be adjusted by a technician.

other than that, I would say go for the Alinco for a scanner, I like them.
