Pro 83 or Ubc 92?

Post by ZO100_marto »

Greetings all, newbie here :D

I currently have the UH013 in the car but want a handheld scanner. I know the Radio Shack Pro-83 is a US scanner but it appears the only frequency difference is it doesn't cover 55-88.

What uses these's freq's?

Cheers

There is activity in the 78mhz area, most notably the fire services: metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service as well as bush fire fighters.

It's also worth checking that the radio you're thinking of buyng has a 12.5khz frequency step in the 68-88mhz band. Older sets had a 5khz step which was fine when frequencies were allocated with 15khz spacing, but these days they're on a 12.5khz spacing. The latest Uniden handhelds (72xlt and 92xlt) do have the 12.5khz step.
