Could too much voltage be causing these issues perhaps?robbage wrote:1.3V is good for rechargeable NiCD and NiMH batteries. 1.2V is the nominal voltage. They should never charge to 1.5V. You can get them to around 1.4v but that will drop back down as soon as you start using them.

Re: How to hear radio signals?
I doubt it. Do the batteries charge in the radio or do you have to take them out and use an external charger? You could try inserting some alkaline batteries and see how the radio performs.XaDvAnT wrote:Could too much voltage be causing these issues perhaps?robbage wrote:1.3V is good for rechargeable NiCD and NiMH batteries. 1.2V is the nominal voltage. Re: How to hear radio signals?
I've tried two lots of rechargables, charged externally, also tried alkalines (all new). Filing a warranty claim with the seller as I believe the unit is faulty.

It is, what I meant was an eBay dispute. It makes a strange buzz noise and the screen goes blank after just a few seconds. Something's definitely not right. I'd gladly call you up and show you over the phone if you think it could be something else...robbage wrote:Sorry , I assumed you bought it second hand When it turns itself off, are you sure it isn't the Auto Power Off?

If the batteries you are using are good then I think you are right. Sounds like it's faulty. Good luck sorting it out. I refuse to use ebay.

Yea, i agree. i have a '76 Uniden Bearcat UBC60XLT. very VERY old, but it works well. 8 band and 10 channel, it works fine.vk6hgr wrote:It looks like a Uniden clone (?) http://www.racingelectronics.com/re2000manual.pdf
