Hello guys
First and foremost, thank you for accepting my in the group.
I have an icom IC-R6 communication reciever. The bands are WFM, FM, AM. I can pick up DFES Fire & rescue on 78.060mhz ( low band FM ).
I'm also wondering if FM is VHF or UHF? I also recieve THE airport control tower on the AM Band but I know they are on VHF.
WFM seems to be the old FM broadcast band?

Re: Icom IC-R6 communications receiver
Hi there.
There are modes and there are bands. Modes are WFM, FM and AM and set how the receiver should decode the signal. Certain bands have modes that are normally used in that band - so AM in the aircraft band, WFM for FM broadcast. VHF and UHF bands, broadly, are FM/NFM.
Gavin.
