119.700 is registered as a frequency at Pearce. (LINK)
127.900 is registered to Cunderdin Airport (LINK) (the list said 127.900 not 129.700 - the latter is registered to a company at Perth Airport...)
The ACMA database is a wonderful thing =D>

I can't remember where 119.7 came from but it was on my list from last year. 127.9 was used last year by aircraft in the "zone," which I assume to be a special bit of airspace specifically for the event. It was also used for the same purpose in the Red Bull Air Race.

Hi Richard and all with a digital scanner!
Yep, I have been scanning for digital transmissions this morning. I have so far found the following, some of which were police channels used during New Year's Eve celebrations:
465.2500 (some unencrypted P25 transmissions - "....Command" and also "...confirm your location" were heard)
465.5750 (some unencrypted P25 transmissions)
466.1500
467.1500
467.6250
469.4000
Most transmissions have been encrypted, with the occasional P25 unencrypted slipping through. I too am under the impression that these frequencies are currently being "set-up" or checked. There was quite a few transmissions happening between 09.30 and 10hrs. After 10hrs they have been fairly quiet.
Who knows? Maybe as crowds build up and foot patrols begin their shift we may start to hear more unencrypted transmissions. Fingers crossed.
update with the airspace... city control appears to be using holding points zulu and xray... xray appears to be south of the swan river, not a clue where zulu is

They might've relinked the analogue channel because they could have run out of digital portables (those things can't be cheap...) Still a nice Australia day gift from VKI to WARSUG
Sitting near the supreme court gardens... As you'd expect there's people EVERYWHERE but the crowds seem to be well behaved.
All channels are a combination of encrypted and unencrypted P25. Still, the unencrypted P25 transmissions coming in loud and crystal clear!! Channels seem to be getting busier now (21hrs) that the Skyworks are over....
right, digital handhelds aren't cheap - but there are two costs involved! One cost is the digital handheld, the other cost is the licence to operate/use the encryption! Both not cheap.
I am from S.A. and the S.A. police are on the G.R.N (Government Radio Network) with digital + encryption. Many other government departments over in S.A. are moving onto the GRN and going digital (unencrypted) because of the audio quality. (e.g. buses & trams).
However, I heard last year that the encryption licence renewal for SAPOL was being reviewed because of the cost involved (big $$$). Perhaps only going encrypted for certain channels. But I have heard nothing since....
Anyway, the point being is digital + encryption is not cheap. My understanding is that encryption needs to be paid for for each licence, similar to proprietry software on your computer. But I guess our governments are prepared to pay for it....
Anyone else know more on the licencing of the encryption from Motorola and costs?
