Had a great day, plenty to see, and got into places that I have neve been into before.

Found this frequency 469.700 was playing music, then voice testing comms. At the time I was near the broadcast trucks opposite the V8 Utes

Today, am in flag point 9 with yorky. That's just down from the crest as they come down the hill to the last corner...

Fantastic day, even if your not doing any flagging there is plenty to see.

Expert advise from Doug I knew most things but putting them into practice was a different story.

Obiwan, speak to Zebedee he is the master :)

Also I just saw the news, that yellow car that went over the hill facing the wrong way actually went airborne off road before we saw it after contact down the straight!

Looked like it, however from our post it was over the hill so didn't see it happen. We did get a vehicle going backwards through the in field at one stage though off the S's. Qualifying saw more action from vehicles not moving out of the way and getting collected.

Sunday was certainly less eventful the driver's were actually well behaved for once!

Highlights were having to confirm a bad sportsmanship flag for car 999 from flag post 9, and spotting that dropped oil down the back straight which my offsider got the altered surface flag out just in time for the front runners but the slick started before our post so at 250k's they had no chance to pull up in time.

Dead simple - in Yorky's case it was me asking "who wants to come be a flag marshal for the V8s" and him saying "yeah ok" :)

There's no experience required, it's just a case of turn up and learn. The best thing to do is to contact the Wanneroo Flag Marshal Association and tell them you're interested. Someone will get back to you with the details of the next race meeting (mid June from memory).

When you come out, you'll be paired with an experienced flaggy who'll take you through everything you need to know. All the flag points are crewed by two people anyway so all the practical training is done at the flag point where you'll be shown everything you need to know and get to put what you learn into practice on real racing cars and drivers. If you have any interest at all in motorsport, it'll be a breeze. Plus it's a heck of a lot of fun!

On Friday and today, I was at flag point 11 (yellow circle) which is at the entrance to the support category pit lane. On Saturday, I was with Yorky at flag point 9 (green circle) which is down the back straight half way between where they come over the crest of the hill on the way down to the final corner.

And today i was in Flag Point 10, right in between the two circles.

Oh you were in 10, did you like the fluid on the track with the front runner V8's running off? Soon as I saw the smoke coming out I knew he was dumping oil and that section suddenly had a glaze over it and I got whatshisname to radio it immediately.

So! On again this weekend! Let's see how big the crowds get this time around. Plenty of support categories which will keep things busy.
