WARSUG upgrade

Post by vk6hgr » Fri Nov 21, 2008 7:02 pm

Hi Folks.

As you can see, we've upgraded PHPBB to the latest release. It looks a lot better and there are a heap of new features!

Many thanks to the admin and moderator team who tested things behind the scenes.

Enjoy and please have a look around. If there's anything that breaks, please let us know.

Yep, watch where you step, and mind the wet paint, there could still be a little bit of tweaking going on here and there.

And obviously - if anyone has any suggestions, let us know! :)

Google's bot indexes sites form time to time. It may be that earlier versions of the board didn't acknowledge it as being logged in.

Depending on the size of a site, and its popularity the bot can hang around for a while and may visit regularly.

You can find more info on it online, for example on Wikipedia

Nope, they've been crawling the site since day one, it's just that under v2 of the board software, only administrators could see them.

In the Admin Control Panel, you'd look at "Who's online" and see this enormous great list ... then you'd see that they all came from the same IP address. After a while it was fairly easy to recognise the bots just from the addresses they came from ;)

Bots are always searching the web, looking for search criteria, eating noobs etc.

How come I keep getting this message when I try to go to warsug.info:

"Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Cheers.

Its ok - because of an overnight address change. Disregard.
