Re: How do people like to receive updates to Major fires pos

Would it be an advantage to create a new thread for each 3rd alarm fire? If we get multiple fires at once, the posts become blurred and people have trouble following which fire they are reading about. It also makes it easy to track a particuliar fire. Once the fire is over then the post could be loc...

Keep the Black radio on mid band
If you get the black radio on anything else other than midband then all hope is lost.

Re: ABC news: FESA going to digital radio in the metro area

What though is sensitive or secret about fire fighting, or am I missing something? Rubbernecking is a problem, but a fire is going to draw crowds no matter what - they're big and kinda hard to keep secret :) While fire fighting isn't secret or sensitive, some of the information that is passed via c...

Re: General fire discussions

That product has been around for some time now. It was developed by a couple of f/f in Victoria. They trialled it at a couple of stations in the 90's but for some reason or another (can not remember exactly) it has never taken off.

Yorky. Even though I wasn't at the incident you mentioned, or know much about it, can I give you some information from a different perspective whch may help explain some of the decisions. Firstly in regards to the comcon staff. More often than not when a fire starts along the side of a half busy roa...

P.S. Did you know we will ALL be using Storz hose fittings on all trucks by 2023? AFAC discussion paper. At this stage I understand FESA hasn't agreed to this, and I don't believe they will. As mentioned it makes it easy for compatibility for trucks moving interstate (one of the main reasons behind...

Just as a follow up, has the investigation been completed? What was the outcome (ie what was done well, what could have been done better next time).

Re: INCIDENT RESPONCE

The ICV, or any crew on the ICV, do not take command of the incident. One this vehicle is on scene, the incident control point is transfered to this vehicle, along with the relevant people holding command positions (eg Incident Controller, Operations Officer). Crew on the ICV will generally fill sup...

Re: BHP Billiton ACCO

It has the ability to refill the BA cylinders , that is make its own air for the cylinders, not just swap cylinders or decant from large into small cylinders, seems to be the only one in Australia that does this (happy to be corrected) Matt. Not 100% sure what you mean by "make its own air&quo...

Re: New white crew cab scania sighted this morning?

kylep, doubt that. The foam tenders have been in service for a few months. I doubt that they would have left site. People mention the LED lights, but the photo you refer to show blue/red penut lights. Also this vehicle is significantly different to the UP/HP, even from a distance. Most likely what p...
