PER 08 - use to drop out because of a certain person having the phone number and loved to sh1t people off :) still with all the filtering in line to protect it and using a shared antenna array it does the job i guess.. could have been improved but you try getting approval to do rigging work on that ...

off topic a bit but i had 30 fm92 uhf w1 band radio's all local. and i struggled to sell them for $20 each. most of them were just cosmetic issues. but worked pretty well for a 20+y/o radio.

now i have about 15 PRM8030 remote uhf uo band (450-476mhz) that i just cant seem to get rid of.

yeah 5wpm was the min for novice. but i did 10wpm aswell. (at the time could send about 15wpm and rx about 12wpm)

it was good to learn, should have really been an option. but i guess they are still teaching valves too.

380Mhz = miltary band.. prob some opp out of swanbourne.
back when i worked for a commercial comms company one of our customers was military and trying to supply radio's to them was a mission as the manufacture asks 20questions as to why you need one in that band.

Amateur radio has a habit of getting expensive quickly but it doesn't need to be expensive - less than $70 all up will get you on air on 2 metres FM with an ex-commercial rig like a Philips FM-92.

Hello all. I went and got my novice lic, and also did the 10 word a min send a recieve (2 years before the decided to pull the morse out) but im glad i went and did it. to me its like a 2nd language. I must admit i dont tend to use it. but its always handy to be sitting there dialing around the band...
