I think we've done well to survive this long since the Police went digital. I fully expected it to die soon after.

Re: Road Rules Q&A
If I read that article correctly I think it will fail. Cars coming up the on-ramp are already at a disadvantage because their lane is about to end and they are supposed to be matching the speed of the traffic on the motorway. They should have the right of way over cars already on the motorway (IMO)....

I bought this unit as well (Degen DE1103), and think it's a great little unit. Only had it a few weeks, so haven't really picked up a lot. Looking at the best way of using the 10m wire antenna in a 1st floor apartment? There's this http://www.mfjenterprises.com/Product.php?productid=MFJ-1622 which ...

Re: Antennas for apartment balconies
Definitely what Grant said. You should have at least 1/4 wavelength away from metalic objects of similar size that run parallel. You might be better off with a vertical on that tin roof if you can get permission or sneak it there. There's always the problem with strata title and antennas.

Some scanners let you program in frequencies to skip when doing a search. Have a look at the manual.

Wait. Uh Oh.
(It's also the opposition to current flow in an electronic circuit.)

If you listen to the WIA news Sundays, they mention when and where they meet on air. I think it's Wednesday nights? I haven't listened to the news for a while. The information should also be broadcast on the VK6RIB beacon on 145.575 MHz FM
