Re: 11m Dipole contruction issues
I thought that baluns weren't required for dipoles, unless there was excessive RF travelling down the feed line... I constructed a sealed unit for my centre connector. http://i.imgur.com/kZRsPha.jpg Is that how it's meant to be? So, taking into account end effect, the calculation would be as follows...

11m Dipole contruction issues
Hey guys, I am currently making a 1/2 wave dipole for 27MHz CB and I am having a few issues. I cannot get the antenna SWR down to an acceptable level. I am aiming for a frequency of 27.355 (CH35). (300/27.355)/4 = 2.74m (Length of each side of antenna). I am using RG58U for the antenna itself and wi...

Have you thought about building one? You could do it, easily, with your budget.

27MHz CB
Just wanted to say that I hooked up the old 27MHz CB (PC122XL) today, for the first time in approx. 10 years, and I could not believe it. First contact was to a station in Mildura, VIC. He was coming through as though he was local. I couldn't help but feel the operator was local and taking the piss ...

Underground Bunkers
Is there anyone out there that has a ham shack, or prepper bunker, underground in Perth or up in the hills? Just curious if they're out there.

RFDS HF
Hey guys,
Are there alternatives to the Codan and Barrett brand radios that are capable of contacting the RFDS?
Also, how does one go about getting the licence to transmit on RFDS frequencies?
Cheers.

Programming Motorola radio
I have a GP339 that I bought from ebay. SW 03.16.00 CP8.0.
I have installed the latest CP that came with the radio CP06.09.06 and the drivers for the programming cable.
Unfortunately, I cannot get the software to read the radio....
Can anyone help? If not, does anyone want to buy a GP339 haha

Don't answer them. If you don't give them a response who ever is transmitting will be less inclined to do it.

Programming Motorola GP339
Hey guys,
I recently bought a Motorola GP339 from eBay. I am trying to find the software to program it. I am happy to pay money or whatever. Do I have to contact Motorola or can I download it from somewhere.
The SW version is R03.16.00

Re: Pre Purchasing Radio Equipment
As soon as I can. The problem is I am going to be starting a new job in a few weeks and have to figure out the roster. I have been wanting to get into the amateur bands for years. As a kid I had a 27mhz cb, and a huge old receiver that I would play around with up in the territory. Just moved down to...

Re: Pre Purchasing Radio Equipment
So you're saying even though I am completely unlicenced I could buy a radio of ebay? That's crazy. Is there a lot of pirates out there atm?
