Re: WA SES VHF Channels

Not sure where you heard that from? At the 2015 Kalgoorlie Challenge, Comms stand. One of the questions was: "What frequencies [Sic] are the new SES channels on." The answer was: "VHF" I got that wrong, as I guessed it was in the 400MHz band, but they stated VHF. I've also heard...

WA SES VHF Channels

Hi folks, I was wondering what the new SES VHF , (not the current UHF ) channels are? It's been well known for over a year that DFES would be getting and assigning these channels. I still have not seen them. I'm assuming they are going to reassign some un-used WAERN general channels to WAERN-SES use...

Re: Tracking of Fire Appliances

It's been a while since I've logged on, but as far as SES/WAERN radios go, the GPS antennas are plugged in and working. We can also have a co-ordinate readout displayed on the vehicle radio's display, but we generally use handheld 'hiking' type GPS units like the Garmin e-trex 10, etc for that, so i...

Re: Uniden UH8080 S 80 Channel UHF CB Radio

Assuming it's one of these: http://www.prestigecom.net.au/Uniden-UH8080-NB-80-Channel-UHF-CB-Radio-5-Year-Warranty Then yeah, looks like a great little combo to whack into a fourbie. But there is a caveat: Other than SES and UHF WAERN, there is not much else to listen to on the 400-520MHz spectrum o...

If he could get a stolen WAERN radio, chances are, that's how the system was interfered with at parkerville and several others.

Re: Significant Bush Fires 2015/16

The issue with Waroona is that it is generating Pyro-Cumulus cloud. This is bad, as the Pyrocu gets big enough to become its own storm cell, generating dry lightning, and further spreading the fire with added ignition sources from the lightning and strong winds at the base of the cell. It's also spr...

Good call. I was thinking about getting a copy of that.

Do you happen to know of any online resources, however?

Re: Standard Licence

I'm thinking of skipping the whole F call business and going straight for a standard.

I'll need to brush up on my Electronic Engineering, Antenna design, regs etc.

Does anyone know of any newer books/resources for this?

I've never seen that before. Looks a lot like the London police setup I saw the other year.

I may or may not have the UV82C (Has VFO code lockout and is used as a scanner only). Don't TX. Don't do anything stupid. Respect the spectrum.

:/ This is not good news. But it's the right move for him to say this.

It should hopefully mean people prepare this year.
