Re: fire comms
Admittedly my scanner is struggling reception-wise a bit today, but then I'm indoors on the ducky antenna. However 6IP seem to be really struggling to hear the appliances calling in. Is it a new operator there? I imagine it would be a nightmare to work there on a day like this. Very stressfull! At ...

Re: General fire discussions
Up here from Upper Swan to Bullsbrook, Zone 2A is everything east of the Great Northern Hwy. Automatic bomber turnout! Much the same as here - I think anything east of Darlington is zone 2. Not so many tiger snakes up here at least - all I ever see is dugites and they will generally get out of your...

Re: General fire discussions

The Swamps are not officially zone 2 response but expect your pager to go off if there is one in the swamps, even tho the 2 big ones are not in your area, you will be there smithy....

Re: Turnout discussion
This is one of those topics that can go round and round for ages :) There would also be merit in saying that why respond an LT to a DBA?? In the case of Perth, why not make DBA callout Perth 1st Pump and Perth 2nd Pump and leave the LTS behind unless required?? Idk?? There are that many different sc...

Re: BRTs and other appliances
chrisss the 1.4 does not have extra crew as it is a trial vehicle but ive heard that it is a piece of snot in regards to urban fire fighting in the way of access to fires and its 4wd capability so crews would rather use the lt Saw them using it a a scrub fire last friday, thought to myself what the...

Re:
Provided you have a good enough antenna and close enough to a FESA repeater, you should be able to pick up anyone on the repeater network when they have the link switched on, no matter where you are. Its purely a matter of selecting the right channel nearest/ clearest to you at the time. Like last ...

You dont really appreciate how much a fire can change given the right factors. Thats why burns like the one you did Helitak_670 and other controlled burns are probably the most valuable training you can get if you have not experienced much fireground activity. I think some/most brigades/shires enfor...
