What the heck happened on the midland line this morning? The line was LOCKED DOWN and police were searching the trains at almost EVERY station! Does anyone have any insight beyond a "Security issue" on this?

Why are the depots isolated? Safety? Think about it... You have fully exposed overhead wires carrying 10,000 volts at god knows how many kilo-amps driving trains weighing in at several tons unloaded with a computer being the only link between the driver and the train... It isn't really going to get...

I would have thought the train grid would have multiple power entry points... strange that the entire grid came to a halt. I think it's more to do with distance... The multiple points are needed because one simply does not cover enough distance to power the whole grid (especially with the Mandurah ...

Yeah... EMU's have a tendency to stop when the power fails... At least (unlike a diesel engine failure which would be equally catastrophic if our trains were still being hauled by diesel) the problem can be easily pinpointed and fixed
