Re: Yes; ANOTHER gas bus fire!

According to my employer, I have the right to leave my place of work if I believe my health and/or safety are at risk. AFAIK that is straight from Worksafe. I wonder ....

Re: how do i get a vk6 foundation licence

There's no option for me down here in Busselton either and I can't do constant trips to the city to accomplish this license which I really want to do. Contact Ham College. They can possibly do the foundation course and exam in one weekend if it can be arranged between you and them. Got somewhere to...

Re: Radio mobile deluxe

Is that the propagation program? I don't think it's trivial to set up. Some members of WARG use it for checking out potential repeater sites, field trip sites etc. Maybe try emailing Heath or Lamby?
Have a look at this site which might help you as well. (thanks to ZMS for that one)

Re: Tracking weather balloons

For what it's worth, monitoring the local balloons works a lot better with a decent receiver.

Re: General Aviation Discussion

I´ve heard quite a bit of activity in recent years approximately 2 MHz higher than that.

I used a WinRadio to track them down. Great for spotting infrequent transmissions.
I saw the Herc on adsbScope this morning. No position reports unfortunately.

6am is a bit inconsiderate for the spectators. Would the C-130 be handled by Pearce all the way radio-wise?

Re: Labeling two-ways

An antenna can be easily swapped. I have ex-commercial radios that have been professionally engraved. I think it's the only way to be sure, even if you do it yourself.

Re: Unusual clicking sound

My first thought is a spark gap noise such as a relay contact switching. Unusual pattern though. Have you tried a different location (eg walk to the other end of your street)? Never heard that one with amateur, gps, aeronautical or marine.
