Re: Streaming DFES scanner audio

The audio on the command channel sounds a bit scratchy?? In "winter mode" the mid-band radio also scans channel 57 (i.e. 6AR/IP command channel) and there are occasional crashes of static from power line noise. The main stream uses a high-band channel and is mostly immune, but today it so...

Re: Streaming DFES scanner audio

On the multi-band stream, the midband Tait 2020 sounds terrible. But thanks to Cash Converters not knowing what it was, I picked up a much better, newer radio, a Tait TM8115 for all of $15 :)

I'll be swapping it in sometime in the next few days.

Re: Streaming DFES scanner audio

Fixed a fault with the mid-band radio, as there was no audio. (Tait 2020)

Opened it up and pressed in the connectors between the RF and synthesiser board. Seems to be happy again.

Re: News: Govt under pressure to set up rural fire service

Sort of. I think what people really wanted was a completely independent rural service like the BFS used to be but this arrangement appears to be, I dunno, a DFES advisory group..?

News: Years After Sept. 11, Critical Incidents Still Overload Emergency Radios

If you go back and listen to the recording of the Broward County radio dispatch system during the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School last month, you can hear the frustration in the voices of police. "I can't transmit for some reason," says one officer. Other first responders echo the...
