Re: Introduce yourself!
Hi, My name is Roland. I enjoy CB and use a Oricom UHF 5500 5 watt handheld with a rubber ducky antenna (Yeah yeah yeah, I'll buy some coax, terminate with SMA Male, and then attach the other end to a decent antenna.) I like using the repeaters at night when all the idiots are passed out drunk or hi...

Re: TETRA detecting system has UK police seeing red
Eh, It's not too bad of a problem. Just have a few decoy vehicles with TETRA handhelds in them. Should make so many false positives that the system becomes useless.

Re: P25 Digital on CB Radio
Channel 8 seems to have a lot of P25 interference. heard some this morning, clear as day. I'll tune my SDR into the channel 8 repeater and record/decode it if I can.

Indeed. I wanted to attend the SES callout, but I couldn't because of work.
Sad, sad outcome indeed.

Re: Lost boy Sam
Some incredibly heartbreaking news. Sam's body has been found in a lake. My heart goes out to the boy, the family, the SES, the Citizen Volunteers, and the police as well. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/tragic-missing-toddler-sam-trott-found-dead-in-landsdale-lake/story-fnhocxo3-1...

2) The Baofeng will be deactivated by myself (Ie, I'll disconnect the power terminals inside the device to prevent it ever working by mistake.) until I get my foundation license. (Yep I'm keen.) or if you do turn it on don't push the PTT :P Yeah. I've researched how to program it for receive-only. ...

Re: SES incidents
SES is ramping up over the next few days for a missing person's search.
I sincerely hope all involved will be found safe, and well.

Oricom UHF5500
Just picked this unit up today. 5 watts handheld with a removable antenna and a good build quality. It has the new 80 channel narrowband configuration. If only everyone on CB wasn't such a cowboy. You can instantly see why they limit these units to 5 watts. Any more than that, and cowboy noises coul...

Re: Waccom UV5r opinions?
Alright. To put everyone's mind at ease in this circumstance: 1) I just went to the shops and purchased a legal, expensive, CB radio. Oricom UHF5500. 2) The Baofeng will be deactivated by myself (Ie, I'll disconnect the power terminals inside the device to prevent it ever working by mistake.) until ...

Re: Waccom UV5r opinions?
Hmmm, I'll just leave the unit unopened. I do not want to potentially cause interference to anyone.
Using this unit without a license is just blatantly irresponsible. I won't do it.
Thanks anyway. I'll go about getting my foundation before I touch it.
