Re: Volunteer FRS uniforms
I'd be worrying more about the incorrect wearing (or lack of) PPE at incidents rather than minor uniform questions. As it stands, there is a new uniform which all VFRS brigades should be issued. This I'm sure is what you would have seen at the recent incident. There will always be reasons for and ag...

Apologies, it was Oakford 7.2 and 9.2 (or at least the 7.2 that used to be Oakford 7.2)TheDoctor wrote: Negative, kylep, Mandogalup 7.2 did not attend this incident.

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2010/2011
A little late, but there has been a 3rd Alarm bush fire at Shepherds Bush Reserve in Kingsley.
Duncraig initially had it as a 2nd Alarm, but escalated with increasing fire activity.
Helitacs were also responded.
I believe the fire is now under control and de-mobilising.

Re: New VHF channels
That's a negative Wes. Programming them into your scanner or rx-only transceiver means less interference because only a transmission carrying the CTCSS tone will open your squelch. Works wonders for the fireground channels here in the city! Otherwise I get all sorts of crap coming through.

Re: 747 supertanker battles blazes
No, saying that it doesn't work too well in Australia. There are so many factors affecting the suitability. It probably works alot better in some of those other places, and would likely work in conjunction with a large fleet of other aircraft. For instance the DC-10 required it's own 1 or two aircra...

Re: New VHF channels
So I've just had the fun of keying all of the new frequencies into a spreadsheet to load into my scanner for my Christmas trip this year, I notice there's no CTCSS info on the PDF, anyone have this info? It's usually assigned to groups of channels so should be easy to list if anyone has the info che...

Re: The Enforcers
Ha, come to Sydney and tell me you still like Rangers! When all they do is patrol on foot enforcing rip-off parking meters and other minor parking offences, I lose respect or compassion. I would rather see them roaming targeting professional drivers who are doing the complete wrong thing, and people...

Re: 747 supertanker battles blazes
It is a great tool, however its turn around time is alot greater than a helicopter, requiring a near by airport to take on more water, or a long lake, also they decided against using it in the east as the force behind the water was causing too much damage. It wasn't just damage, but the patterns we...

Re: BFB ID Codes
And i believe that the Mundaring VFRS are paged as... Mundaring VFRS! Yep, all brigades are paged as name. You will find all the Brigade numbers on the frsvols.asn.au site that Wes administers. That number isn't really used for much though. eg Mundaring is Stn 182. Career FRS stations also have one...
