Re: AMS discussion page

Bless the rumour mill. Wasn't there so can't comment just love it how word gets around and chinese whispers for anything. Had a friend call me about 30 mins after submitting an application for a position and he was half way across on the other side of the country. No idea how he found out so quickly.

Re: Ambulance & Paramedics

You'll find most services will let you have the comfort of the station to base yourself at and not do random patrols. Most paramedics wouldn't want to do random patrols as it increases the chance of getting work as people see you out and about. Know some places internationally do stand by points at ...

Re: Ambulance going Priority without lights

In the old push button days you can operate them independantly. Don't know about when they have a touch screen. Dare say they have an electrical fault or didn't realise the disco lights weren't on.

Wouldn't be SOP to have sirens only.

On our trucks sirens can't be activated unless discos are on.

4 days shifts only for a para. That's not bad. No night shifts at all.

Re: Paramedic Career Pathway

I'd agree with Mr G in some aspects. Sometimes an organisation would prefer that you not be a volunteer. That way when they get you into the career service they can mould you how they want, know you haven't developed any bad habits, won't always go but when I was a volunteer we did x, y, z etc. A fr...

Re: AMS discussion page

Seems like there is 101 other ambulance/first aid providers now. Remember about 10 years ago it was SJA and ALAS and that was about it.

Re: AMS discussion page

Just had a look at their website and I think they need to hire someone else to do their IT/web design as there are a number of spelling mistakes throughout the page. Also hate them saying they'll provide a 'Paramedic' to events who holds an associate diploma. Can't wait for national registration and...

Re: St John Ambulance Kununurra

Embarrisingly so this fleet is better than pretty much every ambulance station in the NT. As a career ambulance service we don't have as flash vehicles as those.

Re: SJA - Neonoct..... - Newborn Baby Ambulance No.2

At that rate I'm guessing they're just doing a lot of routine transfers that PTVs or ambulances would do. Since they have the fancy vehicle may as well use it. Justify it's use and purchase/donation by charitable money.

Re: SJA - Neonoct..... - Newborn Baby Ambulance No.2

Thought it wasn't used much. If I recall the original vehicle just sat at PMH most of the time. If they're using it a bit more that's better, get a bit more value for money and free up emergency ambulances for other stuff instead of transfers.

Some more pics that I've taken around the place. Roads in terrible condition at the moment. Near 700mm of rain in about 4 days. Fallen trees and repairs going on everywhere. http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1559/dsc00041qq.jpg Macca's got hammered a bit. Think they may have stayed open during the wh...

A bit windy and wet here. 1 ambulance damaged after a tree fell onto it at the hospital. Take a look at the NT News website for that photo. Below is the start of what I can get.

I'm very jealous of Kalbarri. None of the depots I've worked out of look that flash. Is it drive through bays or do you have to reverse in? Any ideas on the work load?

Ah yes I remember the Shelley Foreshore fireworks when I was back living in Perth. Very family orientated event and VFAS used to cover it. Nothing really that huge just a nice local community event.
