Re: Coax Cable
Hi, I am currently in the progress of installing a discone antenna on my roof, and have heard that the coax cable you use can have a big impact on the how much signal ends up going into the reciever. I'm going to need a coax cable about 15 meters in length and most of the frequencies I listen to ar...

Re: trunking systems in Perth
Hi, Does anyone know of any trunking systems used in Perth? Yep. There's MPT trunking at about 415Mhz and 160Mhz and a bit of Motorola Smartnet trunking in the 800Mhz band, and likely more elsewhere :-) Mostly for non-emergency service government departments (prisons etc) and commercial comms, but ...

RAC
Hi All.
A frequency to watch out for with the RAC - 470.875Mhz.
Unlike the other RAC frequencies which carry both voice and data (which make them a pain to listen to), this one is just voice.
I'm thinking it's the battery mob but not sure... feel free to post here what you hear

CTCSS should prevent the repeater from opening by itself from an intermod signal, but it isn't foolproof. Sporadic-E and other interesting propogation effects at 70Mhz would mean country firies would pop up on Perth channels and vis-versa... DX is great for radio amateurs but a pain in the butt for ...

FESA has been given 20mil by the Government to build a new radio network. The VHF Hi-Band frequencies are new allocations for this new network - there are no repeaters in place yet, however! The new network will use VHF Hi-Band in country areas and UHF in Perth. The actual radios in-vehicle will be...

hey Guys! Awesome site you have here. The signal is bounced of more than station. Each time the frequency is change to prevent people getting the full message. Same as the prisons system. You only get snipets of a message Sounds like they might be using a trunking system... Anyone poked a trunktrack...

Re: polair police codes
just incase anyone was wondering polair 61 is the police helicopter and polair 62 is a fixed wing aircraft,i am thinking that polair 62 is the long term replacement to polair 61 as i have heard that the government are trying to sell polair 61 because it is no longer needed for rescues since rac res...

Re: In the news: Motorola nabs $28m WA Police deal
Australian IT: MOTOROLA has signed a $28 million digital radio agreement with WA Police which will allow secure voice and data communication for police around metropolitan areas for the first time. I predict scanners will suddenly become a lot cheaper on the second hand market when that comes in......

I think they all have differant purposes ... I rarely trust my memory, but wasn't there a report done into the emergency services in WA a little while ago, and a lack of an inter-connected communications system seen as a big hindrance? Yeah... I think read something similar, too. Problem is if we h...
