Re: Listening to the SES.

You can always ask us lot over at Comms Support :)

Channels 1-10 are the repeater frequencies. All have a -10.5mhz offset so a bit of math and you'll have the TX (repeater RX) to direction find on.

11-20 simplex. Frequencies for these are the same as the RX for 1-10 aka repeater output/TX.

Re: pirates

I'm guessing that it wasn't the actual license holder for that callsign residing in Clarkson, and they were using those three letters because it's the beginning to Aboriginal? I've wanted to hobby a Direction Finding antenna system. Something I could walk around with using a yagi or something but ha...

Re: Streaming DFES scanner audio

Another guess, if it was isolated to just one appliance, is that they had dual transmit activated and were talking on a mid band and high band NCC at the same time.

Re: Streaming DFES scanner audio

This quick video demos the delay I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvgfkeUGd2Y&feature=youtu.be Seems as if the audio from that repeater the appliance was talking on was being routed through two links at once, arriving at different times (guessing due do digital processing or d...

Re: Police vehicles with DFES radios..?

Sometimes we will supply police with a handheld or mobile radio at an incident if they require communications with us on channels other than ESA and ESB.

Most of the time at large enough incidents there is a liaison officer whom messages are passed through.

Re: DFES scanning

You could pop onto one of the foundation courses and get your license, then you shouldn't have an issue with owning one of those radios (while licensed).

Re: Building my own 40M Pixie radio for QRP CW. Is it legal

There are a number of amateurs in the SES (including the comms support unit based out of Belmont), in the fire services and in a Foundation course earlier this year we had someone come to us who was active in his local volunteer marine rescue service. Can vouch for being an amateur as part of CSU S...

Re: Help needed: Updating the channel list

379 is Bold Park, 51 is Claremont. 263 is missing which is two rocks. With "The fireground channel is a repeater channel between 354 and 365" <- they are the simplex channels. Not sure what 519.9 is used for as I haven't seen it used before. They can sometimes use simplex channels as the f...
