Re: Best hand held scanner
Hand held whistler scanner after getting one i,can truly say thay run rings around the new Bearcats hp series Whistler scanners are NOT sold in Australia, (the source of this forum), it would have to be imported. Re: External Antenna Advice Needed
Ground planes do matter on receive. On strong signals using a roof gutter won't really matter, but on weak signals, the antenna will be noticeably directional. That's the theory and theory is a fine thing. But practice dictates otherwise, after many years in the 'industry' I can say with certainty ...

Re: External Antenna Advice Needed
Can anyone recommend a semi-permanent gutter mount solution? I was looking at purchasing the following antenna to use with my Uniden UBC355XLT scanner: http://www.prestigecom.net.au/axis-scanner-25-1300mhz-antenna-with-base-cable But I need to know the following: 1) How can I feed the cable through...

Re: Help with Uniden UBC126AT Please
Hi All, I have just purchased a Uniden UBC126AT, I have read through the booklet that came with it but I cant get passed the first screen. When I turn the unit on it goes through the copyright info then comes to what I think is the start screen. The display reads Scan Mode All locked! bnk: 23 56789...

Re: Cheap ICOM IC 756 PRO 3 and ELECRAFT K3/P3-KPA500
Out of curiosity in what way is it a scam? If it's not a legitimate for sale item, I'll remove it but if it's just someone advertising his stuff everywhere he can think of, I don't see the harm in it (even though his chances of selling to Australia are fairly slim :P ) This post will reveal all. ht...

The ad is a scam. It has been posted across numerous forums throughout the world. Be warned.Bonez wrote:Hi Robert,
Not sure if you are aware, but this is a Western Australian forum (not Washington) so I'm not sure if you'll have any luck selling your radios here!

Re: What to get BCD436HP or UBCD396Xt
It time for an upgrade for my scanners. Havent been that happy with the Alinco DJ-X11, so I'm looking at replacing it. My previous two scanners were both Uniden, so I'm thinking about going back to Uniden. There are two models that I'm looking at one (UBCD396XT) is currently for sale and available ...

Re: Uniden 536HP driving me crazy
:( I have brand new Uniden BCD536HP scanner. In general, it is impressive unit and does work well: I can listen to all sorts of trunked systems here in the state of Minnesota. However, no matter what I try, I am unable to create a New Favorite list. Another problem is that I cannot save anything (e...

Re: Best way to get rid of birdies
Very strong interference when in scan mode it stops oh 469.1625 with just static The first trick is to establish that it is a birdie and not local interference or harmonic or mixing. If you remove the aerial and the noise is still present, then it is an internally generated signal or birdie. If the...

Re: P25 Radios
Thanks. Yeah 492.325 is the Output, as I can hear it in Maylands, where as when I'm at the airport, I can only head 497.525. Thank you! Hoping to still work out the Aerocare ramp radios next. But I think I will not have any luck as they are Motorola TRBO. Maybe the Uniden BCD436HP will do it? Sorry...

Re: P25 Radios
Thanks for the tip. I've put all 3 into seperate One-Freq trunks, and it seems to have done the trick. 497.525 seems to be the only active frequency though. I'm guessing the other channel 492.325 is for Air BP use? http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/licence_search.licence_lookup?pSOURCE=RADCOM&p...

Re: MOTOTRBO DP3400
Yes but the refueller radios are not DP3400's.. They are Kenwood TK-5320's As I said earlier, if the channel programmed in the DP is analog, then you will hear the transmission on the scanner. If the channel programmed in the DP is TRBO/TDMA digital then you will not hear it on the scanner. Now, th...

Re: MOTOTRBO DP3400
And the refuellers, as I discovered last night while playing around with the scanner at work :) The DP3400 is a analog / digital portable that uses MotoTRBO or TDMA transmissions in digital mode. It is NOT a P25 radio and therefore cannot be monitored using the UBCD396XT or other scanner currently ...
