I dont know about the Albany incident, but the new WAERN radios do have the cross-band repeater feature - so one team on UHF can communicate with another on VHF - but only if they know what band and channels each other is on!!

The Shire Of Busselton has something similiar, they have a "Fire Management Officer" whom looks after hazard reduction, risk managemant etc, and is usually the Incident Controller of large incidents, and as this person is a career FRS station officer, is also very experienced in the role. ...

Was driving on the Kwinana Fwy the other day, and was passed by a white Camry driven by a uniformed WAPOL officer and equipped with rear deck lights. Is WAPOL using Camrys or something to suppliment the fleet of commodores?

Now i know this sounds like a stupid question, but what is the point of having hose reels aboard pumper type appliances (Urban Pump/Medium Pump etc.) You are not constantly unwinding the reels, giving it some water, and winding the reels back up and moveing the vehicle like you do during bush fire o...
