Re: Apparantly TransPerth used to run double-decker busses..

Isn't that really why they purchased more artics? Maybe not at the capacity of a double but still. Better than nothing I guess... If only they actually ran the artics on the routes with frequently crowded/standing-room-only busses such as the 37 (Trust me; it is an absolute NIGHTMARE to find a seat...

Re: Apparantly TransPerth used to run double-decker busses..

Jezza has pretty much summed it up. They were a Coach, not a route service bus. They had a 12L V8 Engine designed for coaches. They had coach seating and were equipped with toilets for long distance work. They are not designed for stop-start work. It's a shame really... If they had some double deck...

Mandurah and Perth weren't invented before trains were invented.
Besides which; the question I am asking is why they STOPPED running them!

Apparantly TransPerth used to run double-decker busses...

I've stumbled across these images... http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2284/2122080753_eaf8624a88_o.jpg http://www.showbus.com/australia/p2012/Transperth%20Denning%20doubledecker%201138%203.JPG Why did TransPerth stop using these busses? With overcrowding becoming a real problem on many bus routes they ...

Re: Train Lines - Disruptions - 2012

Buses being organized for Mandurah line due to technical issue Perthnow says that it's due to a failure in the overhead wires... They need to inspect the whole line! That's the second time this year that a failure has occurred in the overhead wires on that line! (This is including the through line ...

Re: It's that time of year again ladies and gentlemen...

Knowing the government, it will be over budget and behind schedule. That's IF they actually get round to doing it in the first place, will probably take about 2 years planning the darn thing anyway. This plan is not from the government. It's from the opposition. The same people that built the Joond...

Yes; it is time to see what election promises the parties make this time in regards to our public transport network! The opposition has put out the first plan in the form of Metronet which forms a comprehensive extension of the existing rail network The key features of the new Metronet include: 1. N...

Re: Bus fire

If a few more of these incidents occur they may be forced to... But one thing that confuses me is why the fire suppression system was woefully inadequate for putting out the fire... What if next time there is no smoke?

Re: Bus fire

I hope that they find out what caused it and why the onboard fire suppressant could not deal with it soon.... I think that it might be worth the PTA's while to make sure that every available diesel bus can be put into service should the gas busses be pulled off the road. (Beside which; they have mor...

In many ways moving to an automated system is a good idea... but it could also turn a computer crash into a very physical crash very quickly!
