Re: DX reports (HF)

20m is most active for me (north west W.A.) alot of russia, europe and asia on a regular basis and a bit of USA coming though. That was until today, when my tower took a direct hit from lighting and took out my 10m 1/2wave vertical and inverted v dipole (balun) and my Yaesu ft 757gx. So my Dx'ing da...

Re: Programming 12.5k or 25.0k ?

12.5k = Narrow band 25k = wide band VHF went narrow band to make more space for other services. UHF is mainly wide band, but is very packed. the plan is to make it narrow and this will allow more channels within a band. For high quallity transmissions wide band is better, but for normal voice and da...

there all talked on, just 40m is probably the best one to listen to right now. it gives you a good wide range, 80 not so good at day but good at night, 40m a good all round, 20m good day reasonable night, 15m good day resonable at night. But typical HF it can always change. 40m is very active at the...

freq and power do pay a big part and it probably would have some ill effect eventually.. uhf at 5w in my face all the time wouldnt make me happy, mind you working with the 400w hf transmitters had me a little worried as well.

problem with 27mhz and why not many ppl use it any more, Antenna's too big, Radio's are too big, too much rf noise in city, static noise gets on ppls nerves. But by far HF is alot more fun to operate, ur not limited to distance. Up here in the pilbara its beautiful, nice a quiet. not to much activit...

the on going cost for these repeaters its not worth them sitting around not being used. in perth it just gets hammered by truckies and civil works groups, the acma tend not to worry about cb, its a free for all and to them there is no money in it and to hard to police. if i was out driving in remote...

Im impressed with it, I use a Portable for cb when im in the work car and coverage seems to be pretty darn good. Good to see a cb repeater is using half decent antenna and coax cable. and for an 815 ( i believe) it sounds very nice. Tops to the NRA for that one.

new frequency allocations starting with channel one at 476.475 and channel two at 476.4375 I thought channel one was 476.425... The ACMA should just open the doors and let the flooding begin. if your on wide band (25khz) who cares and if your on narrow band (12.5khz) deal with the splatter/ interfe...
