Re: Turnout discussion

1. No we have not heard of relay pumping, maybe you could give us an insight on how to do it, what it is, where do we learn!!! Ask your Captain to approach your Area Manager to train your crew in relay pumping. Now can we please get this thread back onto topic - ie turnouts. It was a joke, I though...

Re: Millar rd 2nd alarm scrub + 50 rd 3rd alarm truck fire

Edit: Why was only 1 Light Tanker turned out to a truck fire to begin with? Light tanker was out patrolling an incident when the call came through, thats why they were there first. The flow rate isn't realy the issue, its the volume of water needed to extinguish the fire. With a LT only holding aro...

Only Just lol. All of the heavys were kept busy and did not stop. A couple of the LTs were parked up for most of it but all the heavys were used to ferry water from the water point and supply the pump from the road.

Re: Other incidents/minor fires etc - 2008/2009

Smithy: Cheers for the update bit of a water problem i believe out there, did they save the cab at all or did the truck go fully involved. Definitely a water problem. Once we had the relay set up, it worked quite well. Took a fair amount of water to put it out. We managed to save the cab, that was ...

Have heard a couple of times last week a comms tech state that they were doing some tests and would try to keep the interruption to a minimum. May/Maynot have something to do with it.

I think I have lost the plot, why did I not think of that aswell.

As you said, transmitter may drift off depending on conditions; have found this has occurred when I connect Laptop to it.

Re: My scanner setup (bogan!)

Having seen your setup bonez, I just ventured out to the car after realizing I have a FM transmitter in the glove box. I found it difficult to hear the handheld above the other scanner I have in the car that has an external speaker. Connected the Transmitter to the handheld and now I can hear it lou...

I will kick this off If you jump on the FESA website under the VMRS section, it will give you the operating channels for the various sites in the state. Particularly this: http://www.fesa.wa.gov.au/internet/upload/1295461427/docs/Radio_Communications_Web_page_October_2007_2.pdf Also, I find this ver...
