This is my base setup: http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~loganses/cb1a.jpg I have a few cb's and and a commercial unit and a mobile/desk scanner. Of all these radios, even if plugged into the same antenna the Icom blows the rest away. And this is my aerial array: http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~logans...

I think you're after a 'wide band receiver'. These scanners pick up 'most things'. Generally $300+

Just remember, that if you're new to scanning you should get a cheapie to see if you like it. There's no use spending $500 on a scanner with features you'll never use.

I also have a 120xlt, which i am going to sell as i think i've out-grown it. I've been eyeing off the R5 for a few months now and will probably buy one soon. I already have the software and programming cable as my icom uhf cb uses the same cable and the software seems good. I currently run a few ico...

The scanner might be 'locked' or 'frozen' and need to be reset. Most scanners have a key combination that resets the scanner.

I made great mates and then when the repeater went down a few years later i got out of it. Now, i've got a good homebase setup that i'm pleased with and i've got access to re...

Pilots have all the luck

I just heard the best conversation. I've been listening to my desktop scanner while at the pc and for the last 30 minutes or more i've heard a male pilot 'chatting up' a female airport approach controller. She was giggling, GIGGLING into her microphone. The radar guys in the background could be hear...

Maybe, many decades from now, this will become a large database where you can check up the history of others' regos.

I've had it for a few years now and before that a 200xlt. I also have a UBC 61xlt and a RadioShack pro30 ...

the above screw-in plug on the motorola is similar or the same as GME uhf cb handhelds. Most comms specialist places can source the appropriate adapter. I have an Icom IC40s UHF handheld and it has an even more ellaborate screw-in plug with inner AND outer threads and there's an adapter available fo...
