Reminder on UHF channel 5/35 from ACMA
Come in CB radio users! UHF CB channels 5/35 are reserved for emergency messages only. As peak bushfire season approaches we’re reminding all CB radio users to use other channels so 5/35 are available for emergency services or someone calling for help. https://twitter.com/acmadotgov/status/147060070...

Re: ICOM IC-R6 won't pickup 164.275Mhz
The cheap radio will have a really sensitive receiver (which means it'll work terribly with cross-channel etc interference, but they don't care about that). 6AR/6IP is simulcast on a bunch of frequencies, any luck with any of the others?

Re: Scanner Purchase in Perth

I'd wait to see the outcome of the PTA digitisation project, also. Still in progress.

Re: Advanced operational communications for WA’s emergency services
From the public tender/EOI docs, it looks like it'll essentially be a move of the current Police trunked P25 system down to the Government band (HGS - Harmonised Government Spectrum. Basically, 420-430MHz plus the traditional police ~468MHz band) and expansion for more users. It'll include Police, D...

Significant Bush Fires 2020->
Significant Bush Fires 2020 onwards. This thread is predominantly for THIRD ALARM AND ABOVE bush fires however if it is a significant fire (ie threatening homes and businesses) that is at least second alarm then it will be acceptable. If it's not one of those things then post it in one of the other,...
