Re: water bomber planes
They are owned and run by DEC. They are frequently called upon to assist FESA just as the helitacs are called upon to assist DEC. They are located through out the state but most commonly in the south west and can be filled up at a number of airfields across the state as well.

Re: preparing for Career FRS
probably just semantics, but both those condition are listed under 3.1 essential pre-requisites , meaning you need them before applying. although point 4 does lead to ambiguity saying you need it before the recruitment pool. i have no idea how long between applying, passing and being placed in the ...

Re: Volunteer FRS uniforms
Its interesting to see Kalamunda do this but I can't for the life of me understand why? Aren't they very "Pro" Volunteer. I mean they are on record as saying they don't want permies there so why try and mimick them. They should be proud to be Volunteer and display that. This isn't the firs...

Re: Firies in the Hills
Kylep, I'm not having a go at Kalamunda vollies or vollies in general but are you saying that if they put carreer staff in at a kalamunda or mundaring even for just summer, that those communities are not better off. I know that these vol stations are great in turn outs but the facts remain, getting ...

Firies in the Hills
Hey guys, heard this on the radio yesterday with howard sattler. Interesting arguement about there putting career guys in the hills and some vollies getting very upset. If there were perms in the hills area and able to get to these fires slightly quicker wouldn't that be a good thing? food for thoug...

Re: General fire discussions
A class foam is what is used at bushfires and most predominately during mop up phase. Class A foam is a wetting agent and is used on mulch, logs, trees etc and is very effective in extinguishing these at an incident. It has the look of detergent but can be made a little thicker. The Heitacs use clas...

Re: Difference between MP - MPHR
To tell ya the truth mate there is not much difference between the cutting and spreading gear anymore compared to what the new pumps are running. They do however have hydraulic jacks and airbags for lifting very heavy weights eg:trains and trucks and they carry alot of wood cribbing for when they li...

Re: Other incidents/minor fires etc - 2010/2011
The openning of Ellenbrook will be a god send to a lot of the Swan Brigades during summer due to the ESL boundary/metro fire district changing. Just means the FRS guys have to be there longer and it probably means less work for the swan chief as well due to the FRS being in charge in the new area.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
They are 4500LPM and are 99% the same as the New heavy Pumps. Midland got the first and then they will be used to replace the ageing fleet in the Metro and probably country and from what I understand all the pumps in the long term but by then you expect something bigger and better
