Re: any1 know of any callsigns or call codes
Call sign " Perth Assist" are Transit Officers what assist in the Perth/Underground station providing assistance to Perth/Underground staff. Anything special about them, or is that just the name of the Tango's at Perth station? Also wondering about VKI and the terminology used on IMS (out...

Re: Recordings of security channel
Obviously with our FESA stream etc its all open to the airways so I don't think there is an issue, but something to think about. I'd assume it would be the same for anything you can freely pick up on the radio scanner, however you know what they say about assumptions! I wonder who the appropriate p...

Re: Recordings of security channel
I have the scanner plugged in to an Olympus DM-5 with VCVA set to 1 second. After 1 second of silence it pauses recording.
Looking at setting up my Linux file server as an audio-logger though as I use the Olympus for recording work calls during the week.

Recordings of security channel
I have been making recordings of the PTA security channel (418.300MHz) as all the good stuff happens on the weekends when I'm busy. Not as much fun hearing it live but still... I was wondering if there is any interest in a daily digest of this channel? I could make a podcast out of it with the silen...

Re: good frequency
I'm usually tuned in to 418.300 which is security, customer service and revenue staff.
What is on 419.550 and 418.275?

Please recommend me an antenna
I have a Uniden UBC73XLT scanner however the standard antenna doesn't pick up much in my area.
Can someone please recommend me an antenna that will achieve better reception for the 400-500MHz range?
Must be an indoor antenna as I live in a rental property.
Thanks in advance!

Re: How to hear radio signals?
Sorry , I assumed you bought it second hand :-) When it turns itself off, are you sure it isn't the Auto Power Off? It is, what I meant was an eBay dispute. It makes a strange buzz noise and the screen goes blank after just a few seconds. Something's definitely not right. I'd gladly call you up and...
