Cool! Thanks for that, VKI.

(Anyone going to that URL above, scroll about 2/3rds of the way down the page to see the section on the PMRN - Police Metro Radio Network)

Miklos, That's a very bright yellow page you've got there :-) Of course, you're only providing information on this "bug" for general interest's sake aren't you... Actually constructing one to listen in to phone calls might land you in hot water with the police if you were found out. There'...

Grant,

Although I don't (yet) have a trunking-capable scanner, I think you deserve a big vote of thanks for the time and effort you've gone into in putting all this information together. It's a fantastic contribution to the radio scanning community.

It looks like Western Power have lots of stuff assigned to them...

I think the ones we'd be most interested on the ACMA Register of Radiocommunications Licences are the "Land Mobile" assignments.

Even so, there's still lots of those as well...

I've been to previous open days at both Maylands and Joondalup academies and they are a good way of spending an couple of hours. I remember the TRG's mock assault on a "house" at Maylands, that was a bit of fun, they had the "little tank" there :-) And the scenario village at Joo...

I for one am very happy with the idea of the Emergency Services Levy as a separate charge on your council rates instead of paying via insurance premiums. As Fastlane mentioned previously, it was easy to not pay towards the fire services by either not having insurance, or by insuring overseas. At lea...

Also something to consider would be mandatory sentencing for pursuits. Instead of being charged under the Road Traffic Act for failing to stop, why not have a sort of aggravated charge of failing to stop and engage in pursuit - 6/12 months in the slot. no questions asked. I certainly think that the...

Doesn't really answer your question (sorry!) but I've got the Scantenna and I'm very happy with that. I've used it mounted on a car and got a pretty good reception with it.

In general I'd say you can't go too far wrong with a MobileOne antenna, they seem pretty well made.

I've split this new discussion from the Public Transport Frequencies thread and put it in here. Since it talks about more than one of the emergency services, General Scanning seemed to be the most appropriate place :-)

I think the point is, where do you draw the line? The police are in effect the "guardians of society" for want of a better term. If their actions put other innocent members of society at risk, then I don't think that makes them very good guardians.. Yes, people who are driving dangerously ...

And when its busy in summer, you might want to try 78.3500Mhz as well - this is for outer metro/country.. when it gets busy, they remove the link between the metro channels and the outer metro channels (6AR vs 6IP). Ahhhhh - I've wondered a few times why there are two callsigns (6AR vs 6IP) since a...
