Re: Water corp Fire support
.....oh I forgot to add to previous comment, this is especially pertinent in the late evenings & night when air support is not available. I know there will be a lot of discussions about the use of sirens and lights in an "emergency", as a community, we were very grateful when the Water...

Re: Water corp Fire support
Hi Macca, not sure about the sirens. However, to contribute to this discussion, in Bullsbrok and surrounding areas where we do have one 7:2, tanks and hydrants and scarce or non existant. 500 lts on a light tanker and 4000 lts on one 3:4 does not go very far. In the past, at major incidents, we were...

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2010/2011
Hope this thread is right forum....a lot of crews heading in for night shift from all over. If this incident still open and 'potentially still an issue', why was FESA not updated its Alerts Page on this incident? Does anyone know? Just wondering as we are located in neighbouring district.

Re: Severe weather alerts
I didn't realise I would generate such conjecture. Bullsbrook (Pearce) if you track the weather over the past 24 hrs has by far the highest temperature in the metro area. We would be subjected to same wind conditions too, but with the extra temperature. It is located due east of Wanneroo on the coas...

Re: Severe weather alerts
Wanneroo must be in its own unique completely different weather / climate system/conditions to the rest of the metro area. If still in catastrophic fire conditions (drove past your warning signs several times yesterday) how can you task resources to York yesterday? Isn't this putting pressure on oth...

Re: Volunteer FRS uniforms
Thanks WPXZBP I stand corrected and admonished. Bullsbrook is a VFS and not a VFRS. In my haste to post I made a mistake. With regards to PPE - it was not a gripe but a statement of one current problem that we hope might be rectified with our transfer to VFS. Yes we have always followed correct prot...

Re: Volunteer FRS uniforms
Bulls brook recently made the transition from a BFB to a VFRS. There has been no "standardised kit" issue other than Level 2 PPE and kit bags only to members that have completed their BA. Other members have their originial Level 1 PPE. Some moves to new 'cargo blue PPE pants" as repla...

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2010/2011
Bullsbrook had 2 Light tankers there. Interesting that Baldivis called on Swan Brigades for the midnight shift again but Goosberry Hill incident had limited Swan attendance. Do not want to enter into a discussion - just an observation.

Re: The Fire King
Why? Not enought water? Is it simply cost restrictive compared to the current Toyota platform for fast attacks here in WA? Was it a 'political' decision? What convinced he SA Forestry to run a fleet? Sorry for all the questions.

Re: 747 supertanker battles blazes
So are you saying the use in Isreal is simply a PJ excercise? I am not trying to be smart or offend anyone. It must have some effect in this case as the expense or the time makes it too cost ineffective.
