Re: No 'gawking' at a fire in South Australia
Most people on here have good intents when stopping to look at an incident (fire, accident etc). However there is a section of the community who live in their own litle world, and believe they have the right to do what they want when they want. Unfortunately we do find that at large fires, people co...

Re: General fire discussions
For the amount of times this aircraft can be reasonably be expected to be used in WA, it wouldn't be much of a headace for WAC. It would only be reasonably expected that this aircraft may be called 1 to 3 times in one season. Remember it takes 4 hours to get here, so it would have to be a big fire t...

Re: General fire discussions
Looks like we have a new tool to the Air Wing Arsenal to combat bush fires in WA this season. A DC-10 Jumbo - aparantly... http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/wa/6633250/jumbo-aerial-tanker-on-call/ G WAC would not be impressed.... Another aircraft to park. Would be better suited to Pearce! Re: Hino 2.4
The Hino's that were used in NSW didn't last for too long as they were not the best truck for the job, thats why you see Isuzu's everywhere around Australia. Not true. There are plenty of new Hino's used as 2.4 & 3.4 tankers in Victoria and SA. They have been using Hino's and Isuzu's for a very...

Re: Volunteer Employment Protection
It is always best to talk to your employer and get a clear understanding of what type of leave they may grant you for attending emergency incidents. Is it ok to leave work to attend incidents? Can I turn up late without any notice because I was attending an incident that morning? Can I leave work at...

Re: General fire discussions
i always understood when it means total fire ban from the 1st of december till the 31st march or into april means no burning allowed so someone should be getting fined then if they are burning off now in the metro area. There is more to it than fires. If you look at the following link (as posted by...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
No. They "may" sometimes get a spare appliance with a MDT (this is rare in itself), however the MDT's ability to recieve calls is not functional.philby wrote:do any metro VFRS stations have MDT's?

Re: Overweight vehicles
Just seeing if the rumours are correct. You have confirmed one of them.
One would hope that the new HSR are NOT over weight, and that FESA WILL DO something about the issue (with the old HSR at least).

And further rumour is that it is in the too hard basket, so management will not be doing anything about it, except for dropping water and crew.BuddahFRS wrote:

Overweight vehicles
There is a rumour going around that the old HSR (like Armadale and Mundaring have) are over weight and FEAS has instructied these brigades to drop 500 lt from the tank and carry only a maximum of 4 crew (not good if true comng into the fire season). Also the new HSR were also found to be about 800 k...

Re: Parkerville 3.4U
Neither are based on the DEC appliances. Both the 4.4 and 3.4U use a PTO pump - DEC appliances don't use these. The *old* 3.4R's and the DEC heavy appliances are almost identical - built by the same company. Quoted on the FESA website, mentioned its based on a DEC appliance To quote from the FESA w...

Re: I spy with my little eye.......
Not all of the old heavy pumps have gone. There are still old pumps at Fremantle, Daglish, Duncraig and Perth. It shouldn't be too long (hopefully) before all of these are gone.Tyranus wrote:As has been mentioned all the current Heavy Pumps are all new

Re: City Of Swan's new Incident Control Vehicle
I can probably understand that some VFRS vechile are 2nd hand, hand downs from FESA career units. However, the new vechiles that FESA have are all brand new Doesn't happen like that? Career FRS pumps are usually generally auctioned off. Rarely, if at all, are they passed to VFRS brigades. Most VFRS...
