...and using the existing WAPOL infrastructure. Obviously it will be extended, more base stations for capacity and enhanced coverage.

Re: My new baby - Canon DSLR
No problem :) photography is soo exciting when you get new stuff. It's fun when you order the right stuff :( I assumed that with a 17-55mm lens I would need 55mm filters, turns out I am wrong and need 58mm filters. Need to send them back to exchange :( One last thing...if your UV filter is screw-on...

Re: My new baby - Canon DSLR
Thanks heaps for the tips. It's a big learning curve and I'm playing with all the different modes at the moment. It has a mode where it automatically takes a nice portrait of someone and blurs the background, very nice effect. That works pretty good on my current lens. I like the info you gave on th...

Re: ABC news: FESA going to digital radio in the metro area
IMHO if FESA go digital it will prevent some arson to a certain degree. I imagine there would be idiots out there that light fires on purpose, run and hide then sit there, scanner in hand laughing and playing with themselves when they hear the fire brigade attending and talking about the fire. There...

My new baby - Canon DSLR
Hey guys, Hopefully this is not too off topic for the Pictures forum, but I know there's a few of you out there who are right into cameras/lenses/filters/tripods etc so I thought I'd ask. Anyway, I recently ordered a bundle of stuff and have so far received the Camera (waiting on the rest). What are...

Perth Apple Store
Hi all,
I was in the Apple store today and noticed all of the staff had Motorola portable radios on their belt with 1 headphone in the ear. Anyone know the frequency they use, and is it encrypted?
Cheers

General CHOGM discussion thread
Hi all, Thought I would start a general CHOGM discussion thread on here. This thread is not for pictures, but discussion. I live in Subi so am constantly bombarded by the sound of helecopters at the moment. It's a bit annoying but I can handle it! I just saw a chopper fly over head, and it had flash...

Temp mobile phone tower?
Saw this today near the entrance to Kings Park drive near Parliament house. Looks like some kind of temporary mobile phone cell tower with a microwave link back to another location. Anyone know exactly what it is and why it's needed? Is it a Telstra cell for extra capacity to make sure the Queen doe...

Re: New 80 Channel CB Thoughts
Icom IC400PRO, then get a cable and software to program the 80 channels. Other mods *cough* can also be done to increase power output.

Re: Shortwave Newbie
Thanks for the info guys, will look into a squid pole or possibly a magnetic loop antenna. So far the only things I have been able to hear tonight is Radio Australia 3/3 BBC World 4/4 Some Chinese station 6/9 I'd really like to be able to receive Voice of Indonesia on 9525. It was faint last night, ...

Hi all, I ordered one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270827862554 and it arrived yesterday. I thought it would be chinese garbage, but it actually has a very good build quality and the manual is in perfect english. I didn't have much time to play around last nigh...
