Can be a tricky road that one. Safe to drive parts of it at speed but a lot of very dangerous parts, and conditions on the road change all the time.
Think it may have been family of a girl I went to school with. Too many out that way give their lives this way.

Re: http://wafire.fotopic.net/
I haven't touched the wafire gallery for a long long time. I have some WA gear at liveitseeit.com or my flickr stream 'inthesmoke'
I am slowly over time going back over my older photos and loading some of them up as well

Re: Mundaring ICV
Volunteer Fire Brigades generally assist drivers to obtain their truck License for the purpose of driving Appliances. It is very costly to obtain commercial driving lessons for trucks, and unreasonable to expect a Volunteer to incur these costs solely for the purpose of driving Fire Appliances. Most...

Re: NSW Rural FS 4WD
Hmm a little different. Most brigades here have a Hilux these days, used to be Troopies - as a Personnel Carrier, and for Support tasks. It appears to have this role.

Re: NSW Fire Brigades - Pump
Class 3 Pump. I'd say similar spec to Urban Pump. Most pumps over here carry a little more salvage equipment than WA, but slightly less Rescue gear due to the Rescue arrangements.

If those were the only appliances, it's only a 2nd Alarm.
Careful, those two on the ground are Station Officers.

equally likely observer. We're both just speculating without a more accurate description or photo. Would be good to see.

Re: New white crew cab scania sighted this morning?
I suspect (even more now I've seen a photo) that what you may have seen is a new appliance for BP Kwinana, on a Volvo Cab Chassis. If you're not right into the detail of fire trucks or saw it from a distance, it would look as you describe. If you want to see it, check out the ozfire forum.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
At least 2 spare appliances - Heavy Pumps, were brought online Sunday evening as the proverbial was happening. Would have been crewed by recalls or Vol brigades.

Fast Attack is what the BFS used to call Light Tankers. All changed about 10 years ago along with GPAs, Medium Tankers, FCVs, MCUs and so on.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
Whilst the RFS use a different callsign system it still makes sense. In terms of main response appliances, the Cat 1, Cat 2 and Cat 7 are all of similar capability apart from age. A Cat 1 is a 3.4, Cat 7 is a 1.4, and a Cat 9 is a light tanker. These are the appliances you really need to be able to ...
