Howdy all,
I'm driving from Canberra to Perth next week and recently installed a UNIDEN UH7760NB UHF in my Navara.
Still working out the features on it however it seems like a pretty good unit thus far.
What are the main channels used for car to car calling apart from channel 40?

Re: Who can pull you over?
I doubt that is accurate, unless there is a defect with the prime mover then it wouldn't be issued with a compliance notice.
The other agency that can pull you over, other than WApol, is the AFP if you were in proximity to the airport.

Re: New Markings
I much prefer the old style markings.
Keep the high vis markings for Highway/Traffic patrols.

Re: Abandoned vehicle
You might find WA Police will send a letter to the last known address of the registered owner giving him a set period (normally 7 days) to remove the vehicle.
After that time you'll be given permission to dispose of the vehicle if the owner doesnt make contact/arrangements for it to be removed.

Re: AFP
The AFP role has somewhat expanded around the Airport under a MOU with WA Police and they are now attending/managing most incidents that occur within the Airport Precinct.
You will soon start seeing them doing RBT/Traffic around the Airport now they have been gazetted to do so.

Transperth Security and Transit Officers
Yep, but allot of travel each month.
Not a bad job if you don't mind being away from home a fair bit.

I can back that up, your not looked after and it's only half hearted law enforcement.
If you want to do Policing you'd be far better off with WAPol, AFP or NT Police (the later if you want good coin)!!!

Just a rant for a Friday morning.... The Kwinana Freeway, this morning.... Absolute standstill (Northbound) from Thomas Road. What gives the people the okay to utilise the Emergency lanes on both sides of the freeway as their own speeding strip?? Unless otherwise directed by Traffic Manageme...

Re: Boost to Transperth security systems
You'd probably find that all the cameras are recording and the footage is held for a period of time should it be required, its unrealistic to have somone looking at that many cameras however it is good to know that footage at the stations would/could be available.

Re: [WF][UK] Lancashire Police
The BMW would be sweet to patrol in, very nice car. There was a cost analysis done a few years ago here that showed that Police would be better off driving BMW's around as the re-sale value of them is much higher as they retain their value and are always sought after. However it would be a bad look ...
