Re: REscue helicopter Dunsborough

It's handy to take a UHF CB with you anyway, because the channel 6 repeater at Dunsborough is monitored by Australian Citizens Radio Monitors WA (ACRM), and whilst channel 6 might seem to be pretty quiet, it's monitored quite a bit by a station down there who calls themselves ACRM base. I forget the...

Re: Uniden 536HP driving me crazy

Hi, welcome to the forum. I'm not sure that we're going to be of much help here, as this forum is based in Western Australia and the model scanner you have quoted doesn't seem to be sold in Australia. I may be wrong, but a quick Google didn't turn up any local results. The WA does not mean Washingto...

Wow, really? So 9 and 10 will somehow do a deal with 7 to get their helicopter footage (minus the exclusives?)
That must be a bit of a blow for Helewest who leased 9 and 10 their choppers.

Re: MH 370 Search aircraft

Thanks allycat for posting this. It's amazing how all of a sudden it's gone completely silent in the media but the military is still out there actively looking.
I hope they find something soon.

Re: IC 400 PRO

Since it's an Icom radio you've got, have you tried http://www.icom-australia.com/contact.html ? It's dealer software, as far as I know they won't sell it to Joe Public. You can take your radio to a dealer and they can program it, but unless you can persuade them, they won't set it up to TX 25w (wh...

Re: IC 400 PRO

Although the software is not officially available, there's a Yahoo group that has quite a few members and someone might be able to help you out. http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/ic400pro Disclaimer - I created & am the moderator of that group but it's reasonably active and any questions you have a...

Re: Pre Purchasing Radio Equipment

Correct, anyone can buy these radios off eBay. I've had my foundation license since it was first introduced in 2006, but I let it expire in 2012, and only just recently re-applied for it in the last couple of weeks. Have been doing a bit of listening and there doesn't seem to be any pirates around, ...

I saw this van on the freeway a few months ago. They seem to be getting around a bit these days.... perhaps they were just never marked in the past?

Re: Pre Purchasing Radio Equipment

You aren't allowed to be in possession of equipment that can TX on a band you aren't licensed for. When buying Amateur gear from a reputable Australian shop, they should ask to see your license, or ask your callsign and look you up. Unfortunately eBay is full of radios from China that can TX in the ...

No worries, will be interesting to hear some HF activity hopefully.

I'm listening now, is it also scanning Perth airport as well as Pearce?

Re: MH 370 Search aircraft

Any recordings that can be posted would be really appreciated. I don't have access to a HF receiver right now and am kicking myself because I left it at the folks place down south. So if you have the ability to receive the stations, please upload them :) edit: anyone that lives near Pearce? It would...

Re: Foundation Licence

Different one. The WIA have processed it and it's disappeared off their "available callsigns" list on the website. Excellent, that generally means the licence issuance is around a week away, give or take a bit. Unfortunately not. I received the callsign recommendation letter from the WIA,...
