Re: Helitak Thread

A few of the helitac pilots are ex-military so that maybe a way to go, it will be definitely be cheaper and you will get paid to fly them and gain lots of expeerience before you go private

Re: General fire discussions

Just had Midland heading towards Guildford way in a big hurry. Use of air horn to the extreme. From what I've gathered quite a few people won't use the horn unless en route to confirmed structural or Road Crash. That's also the impression I've gained from working just down the road from Midland. Di...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

The CFRS pumps are ment to be on a 15yr replacement which is 5 yrs too long in my opinion. A lot of the ESL money has been spent on upgrading the ageing BFS and VFRS fleet as well as some new appliances for the CFRS and building new stations. You are right there are alot of people driving around in ...

Re: Swan Valley BFB

I agree with you for most of that kel in regards to the fact that BA needs to be more available to BFS volunteers as our health is the number one priority. I feel that as a BFS brigade with structural capability one needs to be careful in maintaining the appropriate skills as I'm sure your brigade d...

Re: Swan Valley BFB

The fire season is upon us and I have been hearing a fair amount from units in the Swan Valley, but I can't find the exact info... Perhaps members from the board can fill in the blanks. East Swan BFB 2 x LT? West Swan BFB 2 x LT? 1 x 3.4? Swan Valley BFB 2 x LT? 1 x 4.4? No such thing as Swan Valle...

What appeared to be Kalamunda VFRS, otherwise it was someone else in a series 4 pump parked outside 10th trucks driving/shooting range on Midland Road dealing with a scrubbie, scanner is in the house so didn't have one in my car. Welshpool more likely as they have 2 series 4 pumps It could have bee...

Re: I spy with my little eye.......

the old heavy pumps were replaced with new heavy pumps as FESA had already signed a contract for them. The new pumps that will come out to replace the mediums and eventually all pumps in the future will be Urban pumps as you say. The first one of the urban pumps will be out soon and there is not muc...

Re: I spy with my little eye.......

Perth and Daglish definitely have new ones. Duncraig and freo have new ones but are training on them so they still use the old ones. If the new pumps need to go back to the workshops then they get there old ones back but as I stated earlier they are all replaced

Re: I spy with my little eye.......

Yes you are right they do have a new pump. The real old heavy pumps are just about all replaced with new ones. These include Canning Vale, Fremantle 1st, Daglish 1st, Belmont, Bassendean, Perth 1st and Duncraig. Then the old medium pumps like Midland, armadale, wangara etc will be replaced.

Don't know who you were talking to tyranus but I would be extremely surprised if that occured . Buddah you are right in some aspects but those firies at Maddingotn can relieve anywhere in the Metro area if required and not just the stations you mentioned. My mate is in the relief pool and he said he...

Re: New FRS blues

I have heard from a mate of mine that the perms are getting a new uniform very soon and new PPE will be coming out next year some time. The new Uniform will see them go to Navy blue cargo pants, Navy Blue Dress/Work shirts very much like the eastern states and going back to T shirts as well instead ...
