Isn't the T856 a repeater? The Tait T800 series are programmed as a seperate Transmitter and Receiver. The early models were Eeprom while the later models had an RJ45 socket to talk direct to the radios

Ebay $150 typical price with software and programming lead. I paid abit more at Hamfest but got a spare battery, battery eliminator and a few more toys with it.

Wouxun KP-UVD1P Dual Band Hand Held

Very sensitive. Excellent selectivity. Not very user friendly but once programmed easy enough to use. Being able to monitor two bands at the same time (and toggle transmit between bands with one button) is very good. Audio quality equal to my IC-T90. The torch is a useful function. Basically it is illegal to use profanity/bad language on the radio but since ACMA had it's backbone removed, they dont have the manpower/time to pursue the matter. Hence the childrens band..........

Some of the towers are upside down and bigger. It is primarily a base to talk to submarines on VLF

Got a new handheld and lots of other bits and pieces. Good to catch up with old friends and colleagues. Only met up with a couple of warsugers, maybe next time. Makes for a long day from the country (longer for some than others for the Mt Barker boys)
