Re: Auxillary Police THREAD

I was recently in a Q & A about Auxillary Policing with the CEO of WAPOL and Assistant Commissioner Gregson. As Zebedee said, there is not really much to know at this stage. Planning is in its infancy and real and solid plans cant really be put forward until the appropriate legislation has passe...

Re: Police Custody Officers

i was at armadale hospital a few weeks back now and saw a custody officer and a police officer escorting a man into the hospital from the back of a paddy wagon. i thought custody officers were just based at east perth? Yes, based in East Perth but pop up all over the place - Most usually at RPH and...

Froggles - I beleive you were spotted last night on the Exclusive report on the Perth Watch House last night - It's good to put a face to the name ;) I am very glad to be on the right side of the law - it seems to me that - Watch House, can become a hell on earth some nights. And I definatley liked...

Re: Police Custody Officers

For those interested, Today/Tonight is doing a special report on the Perth Watch House - airing on Monday night (tomorrow). If you wanted to see what Custody Officers deal with on a daily basis then I dare say that you'll get a glimpse via the footage shown. A little birdie told me that they will be...

Re: Police Custody Officers

All WA Police staff are allowed to drive police vehicles - even if they are not police officers. Hell, I even know of a non-police staff (still govt.) having a take-home unmarked sedan. If waved down at a prang or witness an assault in progress, there are radios in the car, so a quick call to VKI sh...

Re: Police Custody Officers

No problems mate. QLD has custody officers but they are far less trained than WA's  WA is heading down the path of Auxiliary Police later in the year - Somewhat similar to the UK model I think. It's a bit up in the air at the moment. I personally think its a brilliant idea to free up frontline ...

Re: Police Custody Officers

I very much doubt that the GSL contract will go non-private. As far as pay goes, CO's are emplyed under the general public service EBA and as such have the same pay levels as them (dependant on level). The best thing is the shift penalties that come with that EBA - earn far more than regular coppers...

Re: Police Custody Officers

Hey Caddy1, They are taking over the duties at the watch house as a primary role and also taking care of juvie escorts to regional areas. The uniform is very similar except for the white name badges (with surname and regimental) and the missing epaulets on the shoulder (its a grabbing point). They w...

Re: Transperth Security and Transit Officers

Thanks for that very clear and concise explanation of the difference between ticket-check-chubbs/wilsons and real Transit Guards. It's good to hear that they will soon be loosing the blue uniform - I was appalled when I first saw them sporting that kit. As an aside, I'm currently at the academy with...

I'll have to pass too. What a pair of clowns - and not the amusing kind either.
