Perth 2nd was based in Midland for some or all of the day shift yesterday (Wednesday). Saw it parked up diagonally opposite 7th Avenue with the Midland LT outside Slater and Gartrell/Jim Kidd. You heard correctly. If i remember correctly it's UPHR01 or similarly marked, and I'd be very surprised if they gave them an old Light Tanker.

yep the lights and the decals are the new stanard and the writing on the sides at the back looks long enough to have Heavy Rescue on it, so I dont' think it's Midland.

Photo's maybe but the article that I read was in the Echo on the 29th. I thought the Echo allowed for online reading but obviously not.

I thought it Rescue 65 passing overhead...but too cold outside to go have a look and confirm.

lucky it didn't keep rolling those aren't exactly old bombs parked in front of it...well the one doesn't look to be, might just be from where the photo was taken though.

I thought the hose had been aimed up at the window? Oh well maybe not, either way too late to watch again, either pressure in the car or a sudden cooling effect could cause the window to shatter.

Window shatters outwards as well until gravity kicks in. My *guess* is also the pressure from the steam tipping it over the threshold. Going off what Helitak has said it would probably shatter the other way if you put water on the other side because of the way it cools even if you'd used a hose pipe.

I haven't attended a car fire and so can't give you confirmed answer but it is probably a combination of the pressure and the sudden cooling of the glass. I expect it was more to do with the cooling but the heat may have made the glass soft enough that window would have shattered very easily anyway.
