Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
sorry I read it wrong. Yes you are correct with the auxiliary motor.
Its live drive however and which 2.4Us have live drive.
The medium tanker isuzu do not exist in the FRS fleet anymore.

Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
Like I said in my previous post it is NOT an auxiliary pump. 2.4s that are live drive ie run off a PTO have an auxiliary pump in case the PTO breaks down or the truck itself breaks down. This enables the firefighters to keep fighting the fire or protect themselves. In the case of the 4 Career 2.4s t...

Re: Helitac photos - Success Hill fire
agree. 2 hose reals, 40mm hose drum and a big aux motor, defo a 2.4U its not an Aux motor. It is the pump motor. The career 2.4s or Medium tankers as they used to be known as are not a live drive as has been discussed elsewhere on this site. And all 3 stations have the Hino's. If one goes in for a ...

Re: Helitak Thread
Was just having a look at www.nearmap.com.
The latest photography is from 31st of Dec.
If you zoom in on Altone golf course in Lockridge you can see on of the helitacs filling up. Move accross to Bassendean and you can look at some of the action from Success Hill fire.

Re: Helitak Thread
Quick question. At the Success Hill fire last week the helitacs were filling up from Altone park golf course. Given the fires proximity to the river I was wondering if they are able to fill up from the river or is too narrow around there.

Re: Hino 2.4
I was under the impression that the hinos handled the sand alot better than the Isuzus. I was also told it was only the isuzu that was rescued by the tractor and that the hino also rescued a DM from trouble.
Hino 2.4
I think the CFRS Hino 2.4s have been in service for a couple of years now. I have seen them in action at various fires around the metro area. My understanding and correct me if im wrong is they are not a live drive. I am interested to know what peoples opinion of them are. I also heard that they res...

It wasnt a media beat up at all as despite over 200 trucks turning up on the day it didnt receive any media at all. It was organised by the Transport Forum of WA to raise funds for Juvenile diabetes.

Here are some photos of the truck convoy. Photos of WAPOL have been posted else where. The Phantom truck was quite a hit and a lot of work had gone into it. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/ecrute/Warsug/Convoyforkids010.jpg http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/ecrute/Warsug/Convoyforkids016.jpg...
