How things have changed. It use to be how a easy a callsign was in CW that was the important consideration, not so much how easily it rolls off the tongue.

Keep saving and get an Icom 706 or Yaesu 857. Two thoughts on this one. Yes I agree keep saving as because you don't think now you will use it, in future your interests may change and you would regret not having SSB capability. Second thought is there are quite a few VHF and UHF SSB capable rigs ap...

Re: Upcoming ISS contact

When the ISS is in range of VK4KHZ, it will unfortunately be around 5 degrees elevation and in a mutual foot print for about 2 mins in Perth according to my satellite tracker.

Wonder if it will be relayed via Echolink as they do sometimes.

I just tried to talk to you again. I think you need to adjust your modem to forward certain ports towards your PC to hear incoming audio. Are you sure the audio from the repeater is getting into the computer? I have spoken with Slipknot on echolink without any problem so his ports seem ok. When lis...

Currently Icom have 3 handhelds which can be DStar capable by the addition of the DStar board. I believe Foundation License holders cannot use DStar or Digital Modes like packet psk31 etc but can receive of course. So to use them on transmit would require a Standard or Advanced license. For an anten...

When my brother was in his teens, he was caught riding a bike without a license and was fined and banned from obtaining a license for 3 months.(He did not have one to loose).

Whether its only a fine or not, its not worth the risk.
