SSB is used for the weak signal stuff...like moonbounce,meteor scatter, aircraft enhancement to name a few.

When the ISS is in range of VK4KHZ, it will unfortunately be around 5 degrees elevation and in a mutual foot print for about 2 mins in Perth according to my satellite tracker.
Wonder if it will be relayed via Echolink as they do sometimes.

Currently Icom have 3 handhelds which can be DStar capable by the addition of the DStar board. I believe Foundation License holders cannot use DStar or Digital Modes like packet psk31 etc but can receive of course. So to use them on transmit would require a Standard or Advanced license.
