Re: Help needed re: Charger voltages
Was worried that might be the case. Looks like I will have to dig through my memory back to pre apprenticeship days of electronics and make a 10.5V regulator or just Google it. Now I know I should already know this but a plug pack charger is normally just a power supply and doesn't contain any speci...

Re: Helitak Thread
I think one of the other issues is helibucket v bellytank re the Russian choppers. I've seen the Kaman K-Max? and something I think was a Kamov with a 4500Lt bucket and the length of the line means they get used a lot differently from the Aircranes. There is nothing quite like having an aircrane for...

Help needed re: Charger voltages
I am hoping someone here could help me, our Station has 3 hand held radio's we want to install into one of our appliances but before we do I need to find out if the supply voltage is compatible. I noticed the power supply supplied with the desktop charger has an output of 10.5V DC so would we need t...

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2010/2011
Didn't hear the initial arrival code or Sitrep but if lives are under threat or about to be, I think it could possibly be a 4th alarm, Please correct me if I'm wrong though. Bummer, and the start of the year was going so well, lets hope those at home are able to get out or find a safe place to shelt...

Re: BFB ID Codes
I expect that even as a VFSB your pagers will still carry the B32 code at the head, as other VFSBs still have the alpha-numeric brigade code. I'll put B32 on the list for now, but let me know if your pager turnouts change. Bullsbrook appears to have a bit of an identity crisis at the moment. Since ...

Re: General fire discussions
a bit off topic... but have other Vollie brigades organised strike teams for today and tomorow????? We have a full crew for all appliances for instant turnout plus 4 on standby. Not complaining about not being able to go out anywhere as i'm not too keen to leave my A/C today. Feel sorry for the cre...

Re: Helitak Thread
Yep, unfortunately the Australian Gov love to follow the American way. Very sad considering their safety record is similar if not better than the Skycrane and cost's less than half the price of it's nearest US rival. Never know, it's replacement is apparently going to be made as a joint venture with...

Re: Volunteer FRS uniforms
Thanks WPXZBP I stand corrected and admonished. Bullsbrook is a VFS and not a VFRS. In my haste to post I made a mistake. With regards to PPE - it was not a gripe but a statement of one current problem that we hope might be rectified with our transfer to VFS. Yes we have always followed correct pro...

Re: Helitak Thread
Why don't they look at a Mi-26TP? With twin Bambi bucket of 9,800L each it leaves even the Erickson skycrane for dead. If Russian trials are correct they apparently cost as little as 1/10th of a fixed wing on cost per liter of water dropped. ($0.05/L compared to $0.33-$0.55/L) and capable of 227km/h...
