Re: UHF Connectors

In recent times I've got good quality connectors for RG-213 from Mini-Kits in South Australia (www.minikits.com.au).

Re: RAAF Noteworthy Movements

I was in North Perth, using a Diamond D-777 antenna and Uniden UBC-780XLT, connected with RG-213. Great combination for picking up milair UHF. Of course if the aircaft are 'at altitude' it helps! I've just moved to Mount Hawthorn, haven't set up the gear yet but the new house is quite high up so I'm...

Re: looking for super pit mine freqs

The company is called Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines. Here's the list of licences alone - 82 of them! http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/client_search.client_lookup?pCLIENT_NO=293714&pSORT_BY=&pOFFSET=0 Click on the blue 'licence number' for each entry to view the frequencies. I think you...

Re: Scanning articles from CB Action, Radio and Comms, etc

It's been a real trip back in time going through this stuff. The highlight would have to be a copy of a circa-1986 publication called 'Australian Scanner's World', published by the old Electronics Today International magazine.

Re: Scanning articles from CB Action, Radio and Comms, etc

And I'm glad to be able to make some of your work available to a new audience here. The magazines really were the hub of information back then. Looking at the old magazines, the other thing you notice is the number of retailers who were in business back then, advertising scanners, amateur gear, ante...

Scanning articles from CB Action, Radio and Comms, etc

I'm moving house, but don't want to take too much paper with me so I've been scanning some scanning-related articles (now that's a confusing statement but you know what I mean) I found in some old Amateur Radio Action, CB Action, Radio and Communications and Radiomag magazines from the late 80s, the...

Re: ABC TV news theme - club remix

Does anyone know why the ABC (Radio) News at 7.45am in the mornings plays a longer version of the theme song than at other times of the day?
It's because the 7:45am bulletin is considered the 'flagship' of the day's bulletins. At 15 minutes, it's the longest and is an institution in radio news.
