Re: Victorian Water Bombers

Took some pics of the reloading operation. They are asking for reloaders for shifts to 3am each day, so it seems that they operate all night. http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i12/Kingtut_WA/FireBrigade/P1010719_zpspk0hjgnj.jpg http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i12/Kingtut_WA/FireBrigade/P1010732_zp...

Re: Victorian Water Bombers

We just got a request for reloaders at Busselton for these planes. Was too late responding, and missed out. Heading there now for a look.

Re: Victorian Water Bombers

That will make for a very long turnaround time. Busselton is in the process of upgrading the runway and facilities. I think Busselton is able to handle these planes, and has enough reloaders and runway to deal with them, and is much closer to the incident.

Re: Victorian Water Bombers

I presume for the Northcliffe fire that these would be operated out of Busselton?

Re: WARSUG now on Twitter!

Posts to the Major Fires and Incidents thread will also be auto-tweeted. I find this feature very useful. On my iphone I have setup a notification whenever something is tweeted so I get near realtime alerts on my phone. Unfortunately people keep posting off-topic stuff in the Major Incidents thread...

Re: Significant bush fires 2012/13

Who updates the Fesa websites information? It would be very helpful if they were a bit more timely. At Margs last year, their "emergency" information was nearly 24 hours out of date. I notice that it hasn't improved much. They should be listening to you guys instead. I do, and it is *very*...

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2008/2009

7 power poletop fires in the Busselton shire today. The first one near the Lighthouse, then at locations all over the shire. One major fire near Yallingup which is currently contained. Water bombers and many appliances were in attendance. I have just got home from this one, and I am hoping that it d...

Re: Bridgetown Fire - Discussion

A couple of things that I found out after the event: -The local IC team on Friday were mostly local farmers and volunteers, when the fire blew over the control lines and was heading towards their own properties, they "unvolunteered"(as we all would), and headed home to save their own famil...

Re: Bridgetown Fire - Discussion

I just found this thread, it was a bit of a surprise that my website and story was the first post. I have had to change a few things in the report as I have found out more information after the fire. I agree that it is only one persons view(mine), and I am open to other interpretations of what happe...

Re: Bridgetown fire

A bit late, but...

Here is my contribution to this thread. I was there on Friday night, and, yes, it was less than satisfactory regarding comms and control, but we found the fire, and stopped it.
