Re: Home based UHF & VHF receivers?

I am fairly sure the ARFF use APCO P25, which is digital.
If so, you can forget about any kits for that side of things.

Re: P25 Radios

I'm trying to listen to some stations at the airport. Their frequencies are 494.325 and 497.525, and they are P25. Probably should be 49 2 .325 (Rpt Tx) and 497.525 (Rpt Rx) There is also another frequency 484.9375mhz, but I'm unsure if that is required. This appears to be an FM Simplex frequency. ...

See page 543 of the following document.

Almost 500 CFA brigades across Victoria will be able to communicate directly with those who dispatch them to emergencies, saving valuable time, when a state-of-the-art digital communications network is rolled out over the next 18 months. http://www.telstra.com.au/abouttelstra/media-centre/announcem...

. . I don't believe the base channel or anything else needs changing does it? No. Most Systems have an Alternate Control Channel programmed, so that if the Control Channel fails, or they need to take it down for Maintenance, the Site can continue operating. If it is just for Maintenance, a MOVE mes...

Re: is ti worth buying a digital scanner in perth?

There are three such Links between QV1, and a site at Trigg, which are all licensed to Vertel. There is an MPT1327 Site at Trigg, and an MPT1327 Site on QV1, both licensed to ACN 054 065 011, also known as Biscom WA. ACN 054 065 011 is either owned by Vertel, or owned by the same Company that owns V...

The Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service operates on conventional repeaters with P25 digital voice - hence NO Control Channel.

Only Trunked Radio Systems have Control Channels, or Talkgroups.

Motorola Zeon Digital Network, which is TETRA (TErrestrial Trunked RAdio), Emission Designator 25K0D7W, although the old Analogue emission designators still show against the frequencies on the ACMA Database.

Appears to be registered to the ACMA for some reason now: http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/assignment_search.lookup?pACCESS_ID=1825771&pDEVICE_ID=2241487 That's a Link, and has nothing to do with Trunked Radio. FWIW. The OPs first frequency should have been 8 6 5.5625, NOT 8 5 6.5625 MHz. Moto...

Re: Please recommend me an antenna

So a PAL connector a bit of coax and a BNC plug would probably work. You can't buy a ready made cable, that I am aware of, as it is a non standard setup so one will have to be made. You use to be able to purchase BNC to PAL adapters, although I don't see any in Trickies or Jaycar's Catalogues. If y...
