Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2011/2012
Tomorrow might be a busy day in the metro area with the 37 degrees, down units and air support sent to Margs. Hope we still have some fixed wing up this way!

Re: Significant bush/scrub fires 2010/2011
Sounds like the proverbial has hit the fan at Red Hill, all our Jandakot units ( LT1 & 2, 12.2 ) and South Coogee units have been turned out at 1am this morning. Update: South Coogee hasn't got the call yet, might be holding onto a few units to remain in the south. ***Edited by moderator - langu...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
My information is that the BWTs are to be able to be deployed statewide as necessary. That's correct WPXZBP, it is a FESA owned strategic unit and they can send it anywhere in the state. Also, if we can not get it manned for some reason ( which would be highly unlikely ), FESA can get a crew and ta...

Here is a few close up's from our official handover in early November too. The hydraulic lift for the portable pump and collar tank can be seen in the last photo behind the cab. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n527/chookyau/PA221018.jpg http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n527/chookyau/PA221016....

Re: Air Attack 09/10
Looking into it further, there was a accident in August 2008 in the US which would have been in line with the start of last fire season, but they didn't remove it from service then. Guess its trail finished last fire season, but why would you switch aircraft if something worked well. Got me stuffed....

Re: Air Attack 09/10
Latest word from the South Metro officer forum today is the Fireking won't be coming down due to a investigation in the States of another Fireking that went down. Sounds like we'll be getting a Cougar instead which is part of the wider Super Puma military transport / utility helicopter family. Here'...

Re: HOT FIRE COURSE
I've did the Hot Fire course about 1 or 2 years ago, and it still consisted of all the tank fires on multiple pads down at Applied Training Grounds in Forrestfield. If its still the same, its a great course Sinbad, you'll love it. Heap of theory and flaking hoses, but the go time will outweight that...
