Re: W.A Fire Appliances
Unfortunately as handy as it would be to have more water capacity by using a canter or F350 due to their weight you need to have an MR licence to drive them which more than half the vollies in most brigades don't have and due to the mines the cost of getting it is over $2000 I think. The F 350 woul...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
They have 5 years to redesign a few things which probably should be done anyway, like side airbags etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the article is just something that Toyota is doing for publicity. People will jump up and down about it being an Australian icon and then Toyota will "save it"...

Anyone for a DEC 3.4?
The Gang Trucks are a great vehicle but they go for 50k - 60k.
FESA take all the ex DEC Heavy Duties and referb them as 3.4

Re: Significant bush fires 2011/12
Air Attack called in 5 or so fires to DEC Wanneroo and the Neaves Rd fire was one of them.
Info on them is here;

Re: Private Vehicles
Also under one of the old acts an emergency vehicle was classed as any vehicle that was carrying an emergency service personnel... it went into a little more detail but I haven't seen it for about 13 or so years. This however was changed around the time that FESA came in. Maybe he/she has read the o...

Re: Private Vehicles
Who ever owns that vehicle must have some balls... and not thought to much about the consequences! I had a good chat about a similar thing a few years back to MRD and its quite clear you cant be doing that sort of thing. There is a set process to get approval to have red and blue lights, then if you...

Re: Helitak Thread
The aircrane here in WA cost $28,000 per day plus $13,000 per hour it is used. It has the ability to carry up to 7,500lt but this is affected by things like weather and how much fuel it is carrying at the time. There are other aircranes that that can carry up to 9000lt but these are slightly differe...

Re: Other incidents/minor fires etc - 2011/2012
Just heard helitack 668 - 669 returning back to julimar fire... the plot thickens... the two fires would have to be very close to each other so it could be two fires that they are treated as one or it is one fire that was originally referred to as the Julimar fire but now is Called bindoon control...?

Re: Significant bush fires 2011/12
741, s61 and the three fixed wings are experiencing extreme turbulence and the hangers at Gingin airport have been destroyed from a storm about 30 minutes ago so all aircraft are returning to their designated bases for safety.

Re: Significant bush fires 2011/12
DEC have a fire going.
Bombers were originally sent to a fire north of wanneroo, that fire ended up being rained on however they spotted a second fire on the top of the scarp, burning in inaccessible terrain in a National Park, 6 meter flame height and developing rapidly. Skycrane is on route.
